Although Bethany currently does not have an active LWML (Lutheran Womans Missionary League) the congregation still participates in the use of Mite Boxes.
Based on the Biblical account of the widow's mite (Luke 21:1–4), the Mite Box is intended for regular contributions of "mites" — offerings above and beyond the support given to congregations and the LCMS. Mite Box contributions amount to millions of dollars that fund district and national mission grants and implement the LWML program.
If you would like to learn more about the history of the Mite Box you can do so at http://www.lwml.org/mites
If you would like to contribute to this mission please pick up a Mite Box which are located on the table in the narthex. Then on the first Sunday of the month simply empty the box into an envelope and put it in the large Mite Box table.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more about this mission project please contact Dolores Wilkins or the church office.
